Sid "Hardrock" Gunther, from Birmingham, Alabama, became the first country music DJ on television in 1949. He hosted the radio program "The World's Original Jamboree" on the Wheeling, West Virginia radio Station WWVA. The two songs sung by Gunther on this site, "I'll Go Chasin' Women" and "It May Be Silly (But Ain't It Fun)" come from his album Songs They Censored in the Hills. The album consists of songs that were banned from his radio show.
