I have used both of them. Lust's is a paperback and only covers the alphabet
through iota. It is brief but does have a nice feature of giving
word-frequencies in the various sections of the the LXX (the Pentateuch, the
Historical, the Prophets, the Poetic, and the Deuterocanonical Books). It is
not on par with Ardnt & Gingrich as far as detail, but it is handy for
reading the LXX and for figuring out the Greek readings in the critical
notes of the Biblica Hebraica Stuttgartensia. The same can be said for
Taylor's work, but unfortnately, it is really only a analytical guide, not a
lexicon, because it mere parses the word, but does not give any definitions
for the word. For the time being the best true lexicon to use for the LXX
(and it is by no means perfect in in it's coverage of the LXX) is still
Liddell , Scott, & Jones (LSJ). Lust's is a nice handy volume, but
definitely not worth the price. Taylor's is a handy acquisition if your
parsing skills are weak or nil.
