I should have made it clearer when I proposed my own system: I don't
expect the user to ever deal with this encoding. It is purely an internal
representation that would make searching for words when you don't know the
accents far more efficient.

The system will be used for searchable texts at the Hellenistic Greek
Linguistics Pages (http://www.entmp.org/HGrk/ incase you missed it).
