Regarding the use of language tools, someone
already mentioned the section in Gordon Fee's
excellent book "NT Exegesis" which deals with
using lexica (BAGD in particular) and dictionaries
(section 11.4)
The introdiction to Louw and Nida tells you how
to use that tool and the other excellent book I
recommend is "Using NT Greek in Ministry"
by David Alan Black. This book gives you
a step by step guide to exegeting the Greek
text, and points out essential and useful tools
and how to use them. I used the bibliographic
pointers to build my library - one of which pointed
to Fee's work above, which I have also used to
build my library.
