I am writing you all today to inquire about a world atlas that has
maps of ancient Palestine, Mesopotamia, early Greece, and Africa. Perhaps,
there is no such atlas that has all the places mentioned above, but if
anyone does know of such an atlas, please let me know privately.

Near Eastern specialist and Egyptologist. . .are too aware of the
isolationism often seen in traditional classics--or more precisely in
studies of Greek civilization--with its emphasis on the events of a
relatively short period, primarily in a particular exemplar of a single
