The dissertation that Micheal Palmer mentioned previously is, indeed,
Timothy Friberg's "New Testament Greek Word Order in Light of
Discourse Considerations" (Univ. of Minnesota, 1982), dealing only
with Luke's gospel. It is heavy on word order data but rather light
on the discourse considerations; at least that is how I felt about it
at the time I read it.
