AGAPH is an abstract noun (I think that's the term - i.e., it comes from
a verb, AGAPAW), so maybe AGAPH is viewed not as a "thing" or "object"
that is complete in itself but as a behavior, something which results
from or manifests in doing something. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 uses verbs,
not adjectives, to describe AGAPH. So perhaps one's love grows as one
shows and practices love - i.e., grows to perfection or grows in
completeness. Kind of like salvation - we are "saved" when we trust in
Christ and receive his spirit, but we also grow in our salvation (i.e.,
some are "babes in Christ," exhibiting carnal behavior, and others are
mature saints) - or also like "sonship," which we also receive when we
believe, yet also still await in its fullness, i.e., the redemption of
our bodies (I think both SWTHRIA and hUIOQESIA would be considered
abstract nouns, too).
Any comments from the experts on whether this "guess" about abstract
nouns has any validity?
