koivh = cene greek

for over a century plus the 'biblical greek industry' has succeeded in
popularizing one of the most ignorant adoptions ever perpetrated -- the term
koivh = cene as applied to, for the most part, demotic greek of 'biblically
oriented' folk of the hellenistic period. add to this an outlandishly generic
category called classical, wherein will have been many linguistic species, or
pools, much more distinct inter sese, scil. with clearer lines of demarcation,
than between the two putative categories 'koine and classical' and all will
have been drowned in a morass of linguistic obfuscation.

rationale: i'm using ignorant in the sense of ignoring. at the time of its
adoption it had already been a standard byzantine term, for many centuries, of
a kind of writing in vogue in the medieval greek east, which had nothing to do
with the biblical philological concerns now implied.
