obvious. In what sense would Christ be under authority or the husband not be
under authority and the man or woman respectively be responsible?

For this to work, the phrase "for that is one and the same as if her head
were shaved" would have to be a parenthetical expression actually referring
to a woman having her physical head shaved and thus, perhaps, a reference to
the OT law. Does the Greek provide for this interpretation?
As to authority: The husband is not under authority (or uncovered) if he is
not under the authority of Christ, i.e., he is unsaved. Christ is put under
authority (or covered) if a person subjugates the commands of Christ to other
commands, e.g., giving preference to what the world commands rather than what
Christ commands.
