Concept of "Time"

On the Biblical side:

Oscar Cullmann's _Christus und die Zeit_, tr. _Christ and Time_, was
received rather well when it first came out almost half a century ago. But
it quickly became obvious that it was (as already pointed out) a defense of
his version of Heilsgeschichte. Some devastating reviews of it appeared
shortly after.

The book by Bultmann which Carl was probably referring to is _History and
Eschatology_, issued in USA as _The Presence of Eternity_. But it deals
little with time, mostly with the notion of history, with appreciative
comments about Collingwood.

A number of articles on the various words of "time" are in the big Kittell.
Valuable as they are, they came under heavy attack by James Barr, whose
major piece on it was mentioned by Jeffrey Gibson, _Biblical Words for
Time_.

Finally, Thorleif Boman's renowned _Hebrew Thought Compared to Greek_
inevitably came under much criticism. There's probably just enough truth
in it to merit looking into it, with some caution.

This is all done from memory--no books at hand right here. But I suspect
it can all be found readily.
