I see scriptures using forms similar to POIEI AUTHN MOICEUQHNAI to mean two
very different things. In Matthew 4:19, POIHSW hUMAS hALIES ANQRWPWN seems
to mean "I will make you fishers of ANQRWPOI" (note: the last word is left
untranslated to avoid controversy). In 1 John 1:10, PSEUSTHN POIOUMEN AUTON
seems to mean "we make him out to be a liar". So which does Matthew 5:32
mean? The interpretation "makes her out to be commiting adultery" is not
traditional, but it seems to make sense here: divorcing the woman makes her
out to be an adultress even if she has not been committing adultery.
Any thoughts?
