Hello everybody,
First I must apologize for my late answer, but I only subscribe to the digest version of the list, and I didn't have the reference material at hand.
I found that the French term "thme" referring to grammatical verb structure denotes the "radical" (=stem ?) plus the "voyelle thmatique (e/o)"
(=thematic (?) vowel (e/o). eg in Gk "LUOMAI", "LU" is the stem, "O" is the thematic vowel and "MAI" the verbal inflection.
I completely agree with Carl W. Conrad when he remarks that "prtendre" is "to argue", "to assert" or sometimes "to sustain" rather than "to pretend".
I must apologize for my poor english, especially concerning technical grammatical terms.
