The Gospel of Mark contains dozens of instances of a hendiadys -
1:42 APHLQEN AP AUTOU hH LEPRA KAI EKAQERISQH
2:25 XREIAN ESXEN KAI EPEINASEN
3:26 OU DUNATAI STHNAI ALLA TELOJ EXEI
4:5 TO PETRWDEJ hOPOU KAI OUK EIXEN GHN POLLHN
5:15 TON DAIMONIZOMENON ...TON ESXHKOTA TON LEGIWNA
5:19 EIJ TON OIKON SOU PROJ TOUJ SOUS - and so on, and so on.
The explanation I have for the above is apparently deemed not
appropriate for discussion on this list :(
Perhaps someone else knows a non-controversial reason which can be
posted ;)
