Some not quite analogous English examples of this phenomenon are words like
"let" and "prevent", which (as anyone who has studied the translation of
the King James Version) now mean the opposite of what they once meant.
Colloquial examples abound: "bad," "fat/phat" (Perfectly Hot And Tempting),
etc.
