Let's not bury Metzger before his time. About a month ago in a private
discussion James Ernest told me that Metzger is still a working author.
And by the way, for those of you who have not yet studied basic textual
criticism, Metzger's 3rd edition (The Text of the NT) is still probably
the best thing in print. Metzger's writing style is excpetionally lucid,
making his book a pleasure to read. Quite a contrast to reading Kurt
Aland in translation.
