Two asides on the discussion on Mth 28:19. The command is usually
understood as being a universal commission - but is there any reason why it
could not mean simply "make disciples of all nations" within Matthew's own
community, say at Antioch?
Related: just who are TA ETHNH? Inscriptions (at Ephesus at least) can talk
about different groupings:the BOULH and the DEMOS of the Ephesians,other
Greeks,the Romans, and TA ETHNE. It would at least seem in those
inscriptions TA ETHNH = any group that did not belong to the DEMOS.
