From Language to Exegesis and Theology

Our dean has suggested to me an interesting course for next year. I
would like to field comments on the course and query the assembled
intellects re. bibliography. The course would deal with how one gains
insights from the study of the Greek of the NT (and related areas: LXX,
Second Temple, Philo, etc.) for exegetical insights and eventually
theological reflection. The idea is not simply, then, to use the Greek
to get to "what really matters" but to see in the study of the language
itself a fertile ground for exegetical study and reflection.
Do any of you have any immediate thoughts on this? Or perhaps it is so
obvious or so murky as to be unintelligible. Since the course remains
to be identified in all of its outlines, suggestions now would be
extremely helpful, as would possible bibliographical resources.
