ApocSed 1.5 = "It is the same in our situation, my brethren; what will we
profit, for what grace do we possess without love?" I think the reference
in Bauer-Aland is a mistake and should read 1.25 instead of 1.5, unless of
course that the numbering of the English translation of ApocSed be
different from the Greek edition Bauer-Aland are using (I'm using S.
Agourides' translation as found in J. Charlesworth, The Old Testament
Pseudepigrapha, Vol 1: 605-613), for 1.25 reads: "...for, as the Master
said, nothing is greater than love for which a man lays down (his) life for
his friends" = a quotation of Jn 15.13 INA TIS THN YUXHN AUTOU QH UPER TWN
FILWN AUTOU. The context of ApocSed 1.25 is the last line of a sermon on
love and the sacrifice of the Son of God just before Sedrach is taken up
into the third heaven to dialogue with the Lord about the problem of evil.
