I once asked James Boyer (one of the fathers of GRAMCORD), "If you were
stranded on a desert island and could have only one NT commentary with
you, which one would you choose?" His response: Expositor's, since its
chief focus is the phenomena of the text itself.
It frequently is my first recourse and rarely disappoints me.
