In my church, I've used Bruce Metzger's Sunday School series on Revelation,
and found it good if dry. It provides a solid alternative to the Hal
Lindsey school of reading Revelation, if one wants an alternative.
Also, my professor Charles Talbert recently published *The Apocalypse*, a
non-technical "layperson approved" commentary that reads Revelation against
the background of first-century literature.
