As an example of an attempt at a more consistent definition of the aorist
tense I offer the following example:

Simple aorist:
The completion or attainment of simple verbal action in past time

Ingressive aorist:
The attainment of the *beginning* of verbal action in past time

Resultive aorist:
The attainment of the *end* of verbal action in past time

Constative aorist:
The complete(not completion of) verbal action in past time

Of course all of the above assumes an augmented aorist in the indicative.
