EQNH is variously translated, even in the KJV: Gentiles, nation,
heathen, people. Connotations include "group, swarm, troop, company" and
so on. A commentary note indicates that Paul specifically uses the
term to refer to Christians of non-Jewish heritage.
<<Are there other occurances?>>
There are well over a hundred instances of the word EQNOS in its various
forms in the NT. My shortest lexicon lists three basic semantics: "a
race, a nation" (Luke 22.25, Acts 10:35); arthrously, "the nations, the
heathen world, the gentiles" (Matt 4:15, Rom 3:29, and 'by Paul, even
"Gentile Christians" ' (Rom 11:13; Gal 2:12).
What springs to mind is something like "the masses" or "the crowd" as I
read these lexical entries.
