On the "Subject:" line most mail lists have an abbreviation for the list.
When you categorize by subject all the messages then list by that subject.

Example, here is what the headers on your message look like:

Subject: Re: Call for owner-b-greek
Date: Wed, 27 May 1998 12:27:48 -0400
From: "Carl W. Conrad" <cwconrad@artsci.wustl.edu>

If the B-Greek used the abbreviation "BGRK" as an example, you could then
list all the "BGRK" by subject for saving or answering.

Here is the header for one of my lists "Christian Witnesses":

Subject: CW: Fasting
Date: Wed, 27 May 1998 13:01:28 +0100
From: "Jeanette" <machynlleth@breathe.co.uk>
Reply-To: Christian-Witnesses@mail.serve.com
To: "Christian-Witnesses@mail. serve. com" <Christian-Witnesses@mail.serve.com

The "CW" in the "Subject:" has been added by me at the configuration file
for the mail list. Now when a member downloads all their messages, they
can lump all the "CW" messages together and handle accordingly.

All the mailing lists I am on or have ever been on use this except the
B-Greek. Since I get up to 500 messages a day from all over the world,
it would just be handy. I can sit down and deal with the B-Greek all
together.

When I first put my lists together, I was overwhelmed with this same
request and now I understand why. Only a small percentage of users have
a mail program other than what is common to their browser.

Thanks,
Larry
