Announcement to all B-Greekers:

David John Marotta, who started B-Greek back in 1992, is no longer able to
continue as list owner, and will be passing the torch to Jonathan Robie. A
list owner runs the software that distributes the messages for a mailing
list, and performs various software administration functions. The list
server will now be located at SunSITE, which is the current location of the
web site. Nicheal Cramer will be assisting Jonathan in list administration.

The members of the B-Greek staff are extremely grateful to David Marotta
for his vision of a forum where the Greek text of the Bible and its
language can be discussed in detail by an eclectic group of beginning
students and veteran teachers, laymen and clergy, conservatives and
liberals, earnest inquirers and academic scholars, all equally committed to
probing the Biblical text in the original Koine, and jointly exploring the
mysteries and probabilities of Biblical Greek morphology and syntax.

We are currently experimenting with the software to try to ensure a smooth
transition. The subscriber lists of both B-Greek and B-Greek-Digest will be
transferred without loss or interruption to the new site, and the existing
staff will continue to serve the list for the time being. The main change
you should see is that the email address used to post to the list will
change. Edward Hobbs and I shall continue as co-chairs, and the existing
policies and principles of Netiquette will continue unchanged. Jonathan
Robie will continue as webmaster in addition to his new role as List-Owner.
A new FAQ with adjustments appropriate to the migration to the new site
will be issued and posted on the list, and we shall endeavor to make clear
as ever the right address for posting messages to the list and the right
address for subscription, unsubscription, and status changes.

We earnestly hope that any and every change that comes with the migration
to the new site will be change for the better. Nevertheless, there can be
no regrets whatsoever regarding the long and fruitful management of David
John Marotta. We shall continue to be in his debt, and we hope that he will
continue to lurk or participate as actively as he chooses as a subscriber
at the new site.

The essential details of the changeover will be posted in a list message
that will be sent to all current B-Greek or B-Greek-digest subscribers.
