Re: Revised footers

Of course, now that it may actually be too late, I've just notice what may
be a problem:

The proposed form of the footers may be handy (e.g. for unsubscribing, but
I suspect they will quickly become problematic for the following reasons).

In the footer are forms like the following:

> mailto:b-greek@franklin.oit.unc.edu
> mailto:subscribe-b-greek@franklin.oit.unc.edu
> mailto:unsubscribe-b-greek@franklin.oit.unc.edu?subject=nichael@sover.net

These forms are only meaningful for those (poor, benighted ;-) souls who
are reading their mail in a browser (especially this last one).

(Of course, if you are reading this in browser *now*, the above won't make
much sense to you...)

Anyway, the text-only verison of these can be quite strange to parse for
the uninitiated.

Moreover, folks if include one of these footer in subsequent messages
(which seems likely), it will include any person-specific information
included in the footer. (e.g. the by clicking the above, anyone else could
easily attempt to submit a UNSUBSCRIBE message from me --although
presumable the lister-serv software is smart about this).

Nonetheless, the (likely) recursive inclusion of footers should be robust
against these problems.

In short, I would suggest removing the HTML-like tags and the
mailer-specific information from the footers.

Nichael
