5 case verse 8 case system

Tom Geer:

>I must admit also that I am thoroughly wedded to the five case system

I found students responding better to the 5 case system and incorporating
the different nuances that the 8 cases strive for also. Is this the norm?
and if so has anyone figured out why, or is this just one of the personal
preferences that students pick up from their instructors?
