Doug Hanley said, "Eklektos was not used in the NT for the Jews." Perhaps my confusion is due to the ambiguity of "Jews" as an ethnic or religious term. Followers of Jesus, some of whom are Jews, are called eklektos in the NT. The wider question here is the hermeneutics/exegesis/linguistics of synonyms (eklektos/eklogH).
