Part of the bias of BAG is in assigning particular occurrences of a word
to particular senses of that word. This bias can be partly overcome, and
BAG made much more useful in the process, if the user reads all of the
senses given. Even if BAG lists the verse that a New Testament reader
happens to be looking at as an example of a particular sense of the word,
the reader is advised to look at other senses of the word. There may be
reasons for choosing a different sense of the word than BAG chose to make
sense of a particular occurrence of the word.
With this in mind, BAG is probably as useful as anything for NT reading.
