Machen/Grammars

I think Dan M. is right- Machen has been a useful text through the years. For
me the cost got out of hand and I didn't like the emphasis on accents near the
beginning. WHile Machen's exercises don't allow students to guess from their
NT knowledge (is that necessarily bad?), his sentences seem contrived and
artificial at times and do not help students anticipate what actually is
going on in the NT.

I find that whatever grammar I use, my class sessions tend to simplify the
more complex grammars (Goetchius [sp?] e.g.) or supplement the more simple
grammars (Machen, Kubo, e.g.). My decision to go with Mounce was based on the
package approach, primarily the workbook.
