I would just like to interject into this discussion a methodological
point. Q is not an "invented document"; rather it is a hypothesis, and
one that to a great many NT scholars better explains the phenomena of
verbal agreement between the Greek text of Mt and Lk better than any
other hypothesis as yet formulated or suggested. It will yield to a
superior explanation of the phenomena it accounts for--but the evidence
for a common source in Greek for large sections of Mt and Lk is
substantial and requires to be accounted for somehow.
