I haven't read it, but Gerd Ludemann's book on the historicity of the
resurrection made a huge splash in Germany. He argues that Jesus'
body was actually placed in a common grave and decomposed--no
resurrection (that's part of how he described his conclusions to me)
in the sense of a risen body, but mystical experiences on the part of
the disciples. Title: _The Resurrection of Jesus_ (London, 1994).
