you're right. the follow-up clause has all the pedantic feel of someone explaining or underscoring something that should stand on its own. There are other such heavy elements in the Johanine prologue that distract from the more rhythmic elements as if they are intended to anchor something that wants to fly. fritz rusch rusch@inst.augie.edu
