I'm wondering whether this is really meant to argue that critical
methodology should NOT be taught in the seminaries. I hope not. While
reasoning may raise problems for faith, I don't see much that seminaries
can teach if they abandon reasoning altogether.

Subject: Greek Concordance

The recent requests for Aland's Computer Concordance prompted this response:

Kohlenberger's Complete Greek Concordance to the New Testament has just been
published (I saw it at Dallas Seminary Bookstore the first week of December).
It is handier and less expensive ($50.00 retail) than Aland's Computer
Concordance, of which I have a copy in near-perfect condition (other than the
previous owner's name stamp), plus it also includes NA/UBS variants in its
listings, not just the NA-26 text as Aland's does, and its quotations include
accent marks.

So: Is there any reason any more to buy Aland's concordance now that
Kohlenberger's is in print? (Also: Should I hang onto my Aland Computer
Concordance or try to sell it at a loss to a used bookstore--or to someone on
this list--and use what I get for it to buy Kohlenberger's?) Are there
possible typo errors in Kohlenberger's that would warrant waiting to purchase
it until its second or third printing?

Since I'm not currently subscribed to b-greek (we have e-mail glut problems,
so I read the messages at the Web archive site), please cc: me copies of any
replies you make to this message. Thanks!

Subject: GRAMCORD Greek NT for Windows Technical Bulletin

Now that the GRAMCORD Greek New Testament for Windows is shipping, we have
prepared a Technical Bulletin to assist with various installation and
configuration issues. (For example, some "sub-versions" of Windows 95 need
"manual" selection of the fonts.)

Since many B-Greek participants are GRAMCORD users -- and the severe snow
storm on the east coast has delayed the mailing of the technical bulletin
from our shipping source -- I just wanted to provide immediate notice that a
GRAMCORD FOR WINDOWS TECHNICAL BULLETIN is available by email request. Just
drop me an email at pMiller@GRAMCORD.org with the subject field: "send tech
bulletin" (or something similar).

The bulletin may spare some of you installation/configuration time. (Even if
your shipment is still en route -- our shipper is still working through a
mountain of orders -- please request the email Technical Bulletin for use
during installation and do contact me if you have additional questions.

I did not mean to imply a tension between faith and reason or rationality in
posting the verses from Hebrews. "...the term faith is restricted to the assent
to those truths which rest upon the direct testimony of God alone, objectively
revealed in the Scriptures, as discerned through spiritual illumination.."
[.A.A. Hodge].

This is a very convoluted sense of "direct". Normally, direct testimony would be
from the hand or mouth of the individual, not as told to or as discerned by so-
and-so, which is called hearsay.

And, I would say that there had better be a tension: it is the only way to
maintain an equilibrium.
