In my most recent posting I focused not on the saying that Jonathan
was asking about, biy on the saying that provoked it. But if the
saying that provoked Jesus' remark of "let the dead bury the dead" was
"I must wait until my father dies, as Mark Link suggests, then Jesus'
response seems to cohere with his other remarks that foloowing him
takes precedence over other loyalties to living family. It is not a
rejection of funerial duties.
