One little English example keeps bugging me...
I can say "praise belongs to God alone", then turn around and say "have you
praised your child today?" or tell you to praise your dog when he performs
a trick. Establish the semantic range of a word still doesn't solve the
problem of figuring out what it means in a given instance.
