Paul, can you possibly be without Louw & Nida in the sort of work you're
doing? Here's what I find quickly through Accordance:
Mislead, Lead Astray, Deceive13 (88.152-88.159)
88.153 PARALOGIZOMAI: to deceive by arguments or false reasons - 'to
deceive.' 'let no one deceive you with false arguments' Col 2:4.
88.154 DOLIOW, DOLOS/OU m: to deceive by using trickery and falsehood - 'to
deceive, to trick into, treachery.'
88.155 DOLIOS/A/ON: (derivative of DOLIOW 'to deceive,' 88.154) pertaining
to using treachery in order to deceive - 'deceitful, treacherous.' 'they
are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of
Christ' 2Cor 11:13.
88.156 EMPAIZW : to trick someone into thinking or doing something and thus
to make a fool of such a person - 'to trick, to make a fool of.' 'when
Herod realized that the wise men had tricked him' Mt 2:16. In Mt 2:16
EMPAIZW would seem to carry two closely related meanings, namely 'to
deceive' and also 'to make a fool of,' and therefore it may be quite
appropriate to translate this portion of Mt 2:16 as 'when Herod realized
that the wise men had deceived him and made a fool of him.'
88.158 MEQODEIA/AS f: crafty scheming with the intent to deceive - 'deceit,
scheming.' 'so that you can stand up against the Devil's scheming' Eph
6:11.
88.159 BASKAINW : to deceive a person by devious and crafty means, with the
possibility of a religious connotation in view of the literal meaning 'to
bewitch' (see 53.98) - 'to deceive, to bewitch, to beguile.' ; 'you foolish
Galatians, who has deceived you?' Ga 3:1. It is also possible that BASKAINW
in Ga 3:1 is to be understood literally in the sense of bewitching by means
of black magic (see 53.98).
89.83 TROPOS/OU m: the manner in which something is done - 'manner, way.'
'do not let anyone deceive you in any way' 2Th 2:3.
90.88 PEMPW : to cause someone to experience an event or state from outside
the area of normal influences - 'to cause to experience, to send upon.'
'and on account of this, God causes them to experience a deceptive power'
or 'É sends upon them a powerful deception' or 'É a power that will
deceive' 2Th 2:11.
