xerete-
are people happy with the naturalness of the aspect in

lu 8.43 OUK ISXYSEN AP" OYDENOS
instead of a potential OYK ISXYEN YP" OYDENOS ?
Granted, when reporting a non-event of a story the aorist would be used (lu
20.26), but in this context the non-event is not part of the story but a
background 'non-event'.
(how do people who have read a million words of greek feel?)

Interestingly, the opposite problem with the aspect occurs in luk 8.40
EN TWi YP"OSTREFEIN
the continuative, in-process infinitive was used while the simple nature of
the description would call for an aorist. (apparently many a copyist, after
a robust breakfast and a still afternoon, felt the same).

these arn't the only questions of potential 'unnaturalness' in 8.40-44(-56)
but the only two dealing with aspect [8.54 EGEIRE is fixed idiomatically,
cf. 5.24, 6.8 for lucan exx].
