Not to be impolite: I'm curious about the KJV's use of the term
"piss" or "pisseth against the wall" in the following passages (I
can't transliterate the Hebrew but can give the Septuagint):
1 Samuel 25:22 TADE POIHSAI hO THEOS TW DAVID KAI TADE PROS EIA EI
hUPOLEIPSOMAI EK PANTWN TWN TOU NABAL hEWS PRWI OUROUNTA PROS TOIXON.
Vulgate: haec faciat Deus inimicis David et hae addat si reliquero de
omnibus quae ad eum pertinent usque mane mingentem ad parietem.
NRSV: God so so to David and more also, if by morning I leave so much
as one male of all who belong to him.
NABWRNT: May God do thus and so to David, if by morning I leave a
single male alive maong all those who belong to him.
NJB: May God bring unnameable ills on David and worse ones, too, if
by morning I leave a single manjack alive of all who belong to him!
NIV: May God deal with David, be it ever so severely, if by morning I
leave alive one male of all who belong to him!
Inspired Version: So and more also do God unto the enemies of David,
if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that
pisseth against the wall.
NKJV: May God do so, and more also, to the enemies of David, if I
leave one male of all who belong to him by morning light.
ASV: God do so unto the enemies of David, and more also, if I leave
of all that pertain to him by the morning light so much as one
man-child.
