When I was about 7 years old (I'm 20 now), my Mom and Dad read this passage
to my 4 year old brother and myself in our family devotions. I really don't
remember them explaining exactly what "woe" meant, but from the context, it
was pretty clear that the Scribes and Pharisees were in a pretty sad state.
So it seems to me that from just reading the passage, "woe" included, it's
meaning is very clear.
And I'm not saying this disrespectfully, but not every 15 year old would
give you a blank look. =)
