I hadn't thought of why they were telling someone to go to the crows,
I suppose that you are probably right in your expansion of the phrase.
Modern language does, however, lack these colorful ways of expression
a curse, though. Have you ever read any medeval book inscriptions?
They have the same sort of curse language, "if you don't return my
book may your sould be everlasting eaten by the Worm of Hell," etc.

I suppose that we just don't curse as well as we used to.....
