Writing from memory (my library is temporarily unavailable to me),
_German for Reading_, published by Prentice-Hall, is an excellent
programmed learning resource for getting a start in the language.
Edward Hobbs is, of course, correct in his advice about the *best* way
to learn the language. Yet for those who can't afford to do that, or
who are striving for personal development rather than professional
mastery, this book offers an accessible way to begin.
