APENANTI

Is there any difference between APENANTI and KATENANTI or are they
synonymous [as BAGD suggests]? They are very common in LXX but rare in NT.
I am interested in why copyists [?] of Matthew interchange them at 27:24.
Hypothetical: If a copyist had to choose between the two, why might the one
be chosen in preference over the other? Would context make any difference?

To those who celebrate these days, a joy-filled Christmas to you all.
