Unfortunately, the WinWord "embed fonts" feature is flaky, in and of itself.
Last year, I was working on a project where I needed to take documents via
disk from my personal computer to the computer lab at Baylor--both computers
used Office 97.
I use Classic Garamond as my basic font, and (at the time) used Mounce as my
Greek font. The Garamond never converted properly--it usually printed out
bold, and the formatting was always changed. The Mounce was extremely
unstable--if you moved the cursor on the screen, it would convert to a
series of empty boxes.
