You are exactly right in your interpretation. This is the accusative used
for "Extent of time or space" as stated in J. Harold Greenlee's _A Concise
Exegetical Grammar_ (p. 29). This is a small volume, but contains a wealth
of pertinent information that is difficult to find in some of the larger,
traditional grammars.
Examples of this extent, or durative usage that Greenlee gives are Jn 1.39
EMEINAN THN hHMERAN EKEINHN and Jn 4.40 DUO hHMERAS.
Other Case functions for time-phrases that you will be interested in are:
Dative: "Time when" (or point in time at which) (Greenlee p.28). Exs: Jn
2.1 TH hHMERA TH TRITH, Lk 14.17 TH hWRA TOU DEIPNOU.
Genitive: "Time within which" (or during which) (Greenlee p. 26). Exs: Jn
3.2 hOUTOS HLQEN PROS AUTON NUKTOS, Lk 18.7 hHMERAS KAI NUKTOS.
You will find each of these three case functions in Mark.
