on german, reading only,
i'm surprised people don't gravitate to

karl c. sandberg (and wendel,?), german for reading. prentice hall.

users find its efficiency palpably beyond expectations. good.

for an introduction that uses both sides of the brain, see
the learnables, by harris winitz, 8 volumettes + 80 cassettes.
(USA) 1-800-237 1830
might cost you a couple franklins, but worth it.

i would recommend winitz, at least volumes 1-2 before doing sandberg. but
that is only because of living language experience. you will also find
winitz FUN.
