Nigel: I take QEOFORHQENTA (not QHEOFORHQHENTA) to be the
masc.sg.aor.pass.part. of QEOFOREW, a verb which in the passive means
something like "moved by God," or "inspired." It is used here (Eusebius,
Hist.eccl VI, 14,7) to modify TON IWANNHN. So I would translate:
"John....divinely moved by the Spirit, produced a spiritual gospel."
