Colossians 2:20-23

Could I get some input on any "problem parts" with
Colossians 2:20-23? What would the Colossians think
of when they heard the word STOICEIA? Is there any
support for the idea that it refers to the "elemental
spirits of the universe"? From what I have seen that
seems to be found only later. What of the other parts
of the passage?
