What an understatement. I would replace the the phrase " several years" with
several decades or perhaps centuries.
Anyway I just put in an ILL request for one of the latest books edited by
Stanley E. Porter and D.A. Carson (eds.), Linguistics and the New
Testament: Critical Junctures, Sheffield July 1999. We will see how the
inter-disciplinary cross-pollination is progressing :-)))))))
