Issue: use of Present tense

KAI hOI MEN PLEIONES EISIN GEGONOTES hIEREIS,
DIA TO QANATWi KWLUESQAI PARAMENEIN

This verse has remained a bit curious to me.
I wonder if others might share their insights concerning the use of the
Present here,
with emphasis on DIA TO KWLUESQAI.
