Why do you question it? TELEIWTHS is an agent noun for TELEIOW--it has to
be the one who brings something to a consummation--and I would think that
gives the clue to what ARCHGOS in the context must mean: "initiator" or
"initial driving force (except that it really ought to be a word indicating
an active person rather than something impersonal. It's too bad that
"author" has lost the sense it had in Elizabethan (Jacobean) English,
because its own source, the Latin AUCTOR, is precisely what ARCHGOS means.
One could paraphrase the sense adequately, however: "the one who sets our
faith into action and brings it to fulfillment." THS PISTEWS pretty much
has to be an objective genitive here, sandwiched as it is between TON and
the two verbal nouns.
